Soak Stress Away

I remember when I was a little girl, I had trouble relaxing in the bath tub. I used to be scared a monster would grab the back of my hair and pull me down the drain.

At 26, I cut all of my hair off and had trouble relaxing for other reasons.

The last few months have been a whirlwind. My boyfriend of five years was diagnosed with Lymphoma in January, and while its been some of the most terrifying days of our life, we have also fallen so stupidly in love all over again.

He takes care of me, and I take care of him. Dylan picked me up from work the other day with a big bundle of these punchy blooms and the sweetest smile on his face. Oh, how I love him.

The crazy thing you learn during times like these is how your body learns to adapt to chaos. I've been going, going, going.

This morning I stopped. One of my favorite vegan + organic skin care companies, Artifact Skin Co., sent me a self-care package to help me chill out a bit. They gave me the perfect excuse to take some time for myself.  I filled the bath tub with piping hot water, so hot that my skin felt like it was going to peel off. I blasted Cat Power. I swirled my hair like Elvis in a hair mask. I poured gardenia scented potion salts all along the water. It smelled like I was in a field of fresh gardenia. I melted the stress away for a bit. Self-care, y'all. Take care of yourself, too.
